Richard E. Williams, 85, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Grand Blanc, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at the Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa. Per Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, officiated by Reverend Charles Wendt. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Richard was born on October 26, 1932, in Rulo, Nebraska, the son of John and Zelma (Spicer) Williams. He graduated from Falls City High School in 1951, and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On September 11, 1971, in Watertown, South Dakota, Richard was united in marriage to Carol Joan Deibner. He was employed by Brunswick Corporation for many years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan and the First United Methodist Church in Marion.

He is survived by his wife, Joan of Marion; children, Pamela Williams of Marion, Iowa, Angela Williams of Carey, North Carolina, Rick Williams of Winterhaven, Florida, Ronald (Pam) Hill of Golden, Colorado, and Pamela (Mike Klaasse) Hill-Myers of Broadview Heights, Ohio; grandchildren, Jason Campbell, Brad Campbell, Adam (Alexis) Strom, Alicia Strom, Alex Hill, Andrew Hill, Brittney Williams, Paige (Richard Schuler) Williams, Blake Williams, Nickie Myers, Amy Myers, Megan Myers, and Matt Klaasse; great-grandchildren, Leila Campbell, Lori Strom and Madison Tinkham; and sister, Jeri Poteet of Independence, Missouri.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Williams; and a sister, Alice Stump.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association: East Central Iowa Chapter, 317 7th Avenue SE #402, Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52401.
