Richard “Rick” Lavern Siefken, 75, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at his home after a brief illness and battle with Parkinson’s Disease. The family will greet friends from 3 - 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Private Graveside Service will be held at a later date at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with Pastor Jeff Frohner officiating.

Rick was born on July 20, 1949, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Marvin and Marjorie (Carter) Siefken. His family lived in Marshalltown until they moved to Dallas, Texas, before moving to Marion. Rick attended Linn-Mar High School and graduated in 1967. Rick was united in marriage to Penelope “Penny” Sue Beck on February 14, 1997, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked for AAA Motor Club for 37 years as a District Manager for Iowa and Minnesota and retired in 2008. Rick enjoyed playing 18 holes on the golf course, cooking, and entertaining family and friends. Rick loved the Dallas Cowboys and was a hardcore Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was an avid deer hunter, baseball coach, but most of all, a family man. Rick will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Rick is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Penny Siefken; two children, Jason (Lindsay) Siefken and Jamie (Jennifer) Siefken, both of Cedar Rapids; stepdaughter, Candy Ellertson of Marion; stepson, Clint Pirkel of Marion; seven grandchildren, Ashlin Pirkel, Tyler Ellertson, Adam Ellertson, Dean Siefken, Crosby Siefken, Brody Siefken, and Georgia Siefken; and two great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Marjorie Siefken.
