Richard L. Shaw Sr., 61 of 510 F Avenue N.W., died Saturday, October 30, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center, following a sudden illness. Memorial Services: 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2004, at Central Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Terry Seufferlein. There will be no visitation. Burial will be at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife Kaye; two sons, Daniel Shaw of Cedar Rapids and Richard (Angie) Shaw Jr. of Hiawatha; two daughters, Becky (Jamie) Barnett of Lisbon and Tonya Shaw of New York; his brothers and sisters, Glarice Kula and Gordon Kula, both of Anamosa, Gwen (Curt) Edwards of Monticello, Glenice (Kelly) Heskett of Anamosa, Gene (Diane) Kula of Springville, Galen (Sherry) Kula of Anamosa, Glenda Jensen of Shellsburg, Garold Kula of North Liberty, Gail (John) Barnes of Cedar Rapids, and Greg (Marilyn) Kula and Gloria Kula, both of Anamosa.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews; and special cousins, Lydia Johnson and Kevin Heiter, both of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, Minnie and LeRoy Kula, a brother, Gary Kula and two uncles, Leonard and Marvin.
Richard was raised, the son of LeRoy and Minnie Shaw Kula on April 21, 1943, in Anamosa. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era. On April 24, 2001 he was united in marriage to Kaye Lint. For fifteen years he was employed as a security guard at Two Star Security. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids. Richard was a friend of Bill W.
