Richard Thomas "Tom? Reilly, 56, of 6707 Lucore Rd., died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, following a courageous battle with a brief illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Rev. Scott Boone. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a parish vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and military rites will be performed by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; his daughter, Tina Renee Reilly of Atlanta, Georgia and Miami, Florida; two sons, Shane Richard Reilly of San Francisco, California and Joshua John Reilly of New York City, New York; three sisters, Sharon Reilly and husband Bob Naujoks of Marion, Cathy Schirmer of Cedar Rapids and Mary Shedek and husband Allen of Marion; and a brother, Chuck Reilly and wife Eileen of LeGrand.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom was born September 22, 1946, the son of Richard Anthony and Anna Lucy (Gallo) Reilly in Cedar Rapids. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Enterprise. On June 3, 1972, he married Donna Arlene Luck at All Saints Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Tom was a commerical insulator for Local #81.
Tom was a member of the Central States Archeological Society and the Hawkeye State Archeological Society. He loved the outdoors, wildlife and nature. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting and searching for Native American artifacts. Tom grew his own grapes and berries in their orchard and at one time enjoyed making his own wine. Tom enjoyed time spent with family and friends on the homestead he so loved and had planted so much on. He had many other interests and hobbies.
