Richard F. Panek, 63, of 392 21st Street SE, Cedar Rapids, died Friday, March 10, 2006, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Kim (Paul) Kaune; a son, Frank Panek, both of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren, Makayla and Macormick Kaune; two stepgrandchildren, Jessica and Andrew Jarnagin, both of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Paulette Stauder of Zion, Illinois; and a brother, Lenny (Vicki) Panek of North Lake, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Kathy Panek; a son, Kevin Panek; a grandson, Paul Kaune, III; and a stepgrandson, Mitchell Jarnagin.
Richard was born May 27, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois the son of Frank and Frances Panek. He served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. On June 19, 1965, he was united in marriage to Patricia. She died July 31, 1995. For over 25 years, Richard worked as a Mechanical Draftsman Engineer for Quaker Oats Company. Richard loved to go fishing and was a jack of all trades.
