Richard Robert Mundorf, 48, of 2401 H Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, died at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City, on Thursday, January 19, 2006, following a sudden illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 24, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, where friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday. The Rev. William Pugliese will officiate.
Survivors include two sons, Jeremiah and Bryson, and their mother, Debra Dirks Mundorf ; his mother Mary (Carl) Heil of Wyalusing, Wisconsin; his father, Robert (Jean) Mundorf of Vancouver, Washington; his companion, Lisa Steggall and her three sons, Chad, Matt and Corey; a sister, Jerene Mundorf of Cedar Rapids; three brothers, Tony (Pamela) Mundorf of Walker, Christopher (Tonya) Mundorf of Coggon and Bradley Mundorf of Wyalusing, Wisconsin; a stepbrother, Carl Heil Jr.and Sandy Seeley of Cedar Rapids; eight nephews; five nieces; six aunts; four uncles; several cousins; and many, many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Leona Thompson and Clayton and Virginia Mundorf; and three uncles, James Mundorf, Virgil Morris and Rod Kunze.
Richard was born May 19, 1957, the son of Robert Mundorf and Mary Ann Thompson Mundorf in Atlantic, Iowa. He attended Marion schools and served in the U.S. Air Force. Richard had worked for Western Electric, Colonial Bakery, Farmstead Foods and was currently employed by Apollo Siding.
He was a loving parent, a devoted son and a true and caring friend who will be missed by all.
Military honors will be provided by Marion American Legion Post No. 298.
