Richard Lee Meyer

Richard "Dick? Lee Meyer, 78, of 1310 Franklin St., died Sunday, September 25, 2005, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a short illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker by Father Gabriel Anderson. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point where a parish vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Vera; a son, Paul Meyer of Hiawatha; a daughter, Laura (Rick) Batcheler of Central City; three step-sons, Michael (Gail) Rhinehart, Kevin (Marsha) Rhinehart, and Greg (Faith) Rhinehart, all of Center Point; a brother, Rudolph "Bud? (Leta) Meyer, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; four grandsons; nine step-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Norma; and a daughter, Doris Kay, who died in infancy.
Dick was born November 25, 1926, the son of Rudolph Henry Meyer, Sr. and Mary Ann (Bracci) Meyer Hansen in Cedar Rapids. He served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. On February 8, 1948, he married Norma Grishaber in Cedar Rapids. She died December 1, 1995. He then married Vera Rhinehart May 10, 1997. Dick worked for the Alburnett Elevator, the Center Point Elevator and ran the Lafayette Trail Oasis & BP Feed Store along the Cedar Valley Bike Trail. He retired in 1996. He was a member of WFLA Lodge and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker.
Military honors provided by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
