Richard “Dick” E. McMullen, 88, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully after a long illness, Friday, May 27, 2016, at St. Luke’s Hospital. Private graveside burial at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Molly McMullen, Kenneth (Kathy) Volz and Jon (Sue) Volz; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma; daughter, Kenalie Holman; three sisters; and a brother.
Dick was born December 31, 1927, the son of Eldon and Bernice (Wolf) McMullen, in Cascade, Iowa. He served his country during World War II with the United States Navy. On November 15, 1952, Dick was united in marriage to Emma Mrstik in Cedar Rapids. She died October 12, 2009.
Dick worked at Square D for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing and loved the Iowa Hawkeyes.
