Richard D. Jorgensen, 78, of Walford, Iowa, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008, in his home following a long illness. Memorial Service: 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 23, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor David Mosher. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Ingrid “Tootie”; children, Richard “Rick” (Sue) Jorgensen, Susan “Susie” Jorgensen and Steve (Kimber) Jorgensen; grandchildren, Robert and wife Megan, Katherine, Daniel, Nicholas and Lukas; brother, Herb Jorgensen of Danville, California; and sisters, Millie Snook and Marian Hall both of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard was born January 8, 1930, in Milford, Iowa, the son of Walter and Ruth (White) Jorgensen. On December 18, 1954, he was united in marriage to Ingrid “Tootie” Grabe at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Norway, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Richard retired from Collins Radio with 40 years of service.
Richard was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Walford. He was an avid fisherman and golfer and loved trout fly tying and making fly rods. He also enjoyed bowling and playing cards.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Richard’s memory.
