Richard “Dick” Allen Hotz, 84, of Troy Mills, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery. Military Honors by American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.

Dick was born June 17, 1933, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Irma (Wood) Hotz. He graduated from Marion High School in 1951. Dick served with the United States Army from 1952-1554 in Panama during the Korean War. In his early days he enjoyed racing cars at Hawkeye Downs. On August 27, 1969, in Rockford, Illinois, Dick was united in marriage to Delight “Dee” Peal. He was employed at Stubers, MACO, and Metal Fabricators as a painter until retiring in 2002. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post #298 of Marion.

He is survived by his daughter, Karla Hotz Armstrong of Cedar Rapids; son, Michael (Laura) Hotz of Brandon; daughter-in-law, Patti Cole of Cedar Rapids; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Donna) Hotz; and several nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dee; son, David Cole; and brothers, Robert and Chuck Hotz.

Dick enjoyed fishing and NASCAR racing. He loved his animals and being surrounded by family and friends.
