Richard F. “Dick” Goldsberry, 72, of West Amana, Iowa, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Chaplain Mike Slagenweit-Coffman. The family will greet friends at a luncheon at the funeral home immediately following the service. Burial will follow the luncheon at Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City.
Survivors include wife, Linda Goldsberry of West Amana; mother, Betty Goldsberry of Cedar Rapids; children, Jill (Tony) Tabaka of Minneapolis, Kori (Gary) Philipp of Ely, Iowa, Amy Goldsberry of Ely, Iowa and Jesse (Andrea) Hankemeier of Walker, Iowa; siblings, Jim (Connie) Goldsberry of Solon, Don Goldsberry of Hampton, Iowa and Pam Jacob of Camarillo, California; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and his dog, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Don Goldsberry.
Dick was born on October 23, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Donald and Betty Goldsberry. He graduated from Washington High School in 1959. Dick served proudly as a United States Marine and served in the Aleutian Islands and Japan. He married Kathy Procok in 1963, they later divorced. Dick worked as a supervisor at Cryovac, P&H, Goss, Johnson County Deputy Sheriff and drove for Philipp Trucking. On August 22, 1992, Dick married Linda Hankemeier in Blairstown, Iowa. For the last 18 years the couple owned and operated Goldsberry Trucking. Dick was a member of the Swisher American Legion for over 40 years. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing with his son and grandsons and playing poker with friends.
