Richard J. Ghiotto, 57, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, January 21, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Private family memorial gathering will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include sisters, Donna (Jim) Hockenberry of Pennsylvania, Pat (Jim) Randall of Indiana, Joyce Oldfather of Cedar Rapids and Debbie (Bob) Melchert of Chicago; brothers, Arthur E. (Maria) Ghiotto Jr. of Chicago, Ray (Pam) Ghiotto of California, Ron Ghiotto of Pennsylvania and Warren Ghiotto of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur E. Sr. and Josephine Ghiotto, and brother-in-law, Michael R. Oldfather.
Richard was born on March 24, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, son of Arthur Sr. and Josephine Ghiotto. He attended school in Chicago. Richard was a bricklayer and became an over the road truck driver until 2007. He settled in Kentucky and later moved to Cedar Rapids within the last year. Richard was very mechanical; he enjoyed tinkering with things and playing the drums.
