Richard E. Eidemiller, 79, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha. A Masonic Service will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion followed by the family greeting friends until 8 p.m. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion. Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016, at Mt. Clark Cemetery, Central City, with military honors provided by American Legion Post #298 of Marion.

Richard is survived by his wife, Christine of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; children, Barbara (Steve) Baty of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Richard (Patti) Eidemiller of Mukwonago, Wisconsin, Steven (Dawn Marben) Eidemiller of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and Robert (Mindy) Eidemiller of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; step-children, Karen (Randy) Peyton of Troy Mills, Iowa, Julie Peyton of Coggon, Iowa, and Jamie (Ron) Harris of Greenville, Wisconsin; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter, Michelle Daugherty.

Richard was born January 8, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Edwin and Ruth (Hafemeister) Eidemiller. On May 28, 1983, he married Christine Haley at Ascension Lutheran Church in Marion. Richard retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service. He also worked as a field service engineer at Rockwell. Richard was a past Master of Mizpah Lodge #639 A.F. & A.M. of Cedar Rapids. He was a member of the El Kahir Shrine and participated in the color guard, the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite, American Legion Post #298 of Marion, VFW Post #788 of Cedar Rapids, and the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Marion.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Richard’s memory.
