Richard “Dick” Beaty, 83, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, November 17, 2010, at home.
He will live on in the love and memories of his family: his wife Beverly; three children, Richard (Mary) Beaty of Toronto, Kathleen (Jim) Siegling of Cedar Rapids, and Diane (Rick) Naaktgeboren of Stone City; and eight grandchildren, Robin (Adam) Mangold, Taran (Anita) Beaty, Angela (Tim) Hicks, Jason (Brenda) Naaktgeboren, Wendy (Josh) Yoder, Maev Beaty (Alan Dilworth), Erik (Tina) Naaktgeboren, and Kim Byung Siegling; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Dick was born December 28, 1926, the son of Marion and Pheobe (Franks) Beaty in Marion. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. On January 10, 1946, he married Beverly Hover. Dick worked for Nelson Manufacturing for 31 years, which took him and Bev across the country, extending their family to all who were drawn to this loving couple. He was active in Scouting for over 50 years, receiving the Silver Beaver Award and touching the lives of hundreds of Scouts.
Family and friends may gather for food and fellowship any time between 1 and 3 p.m. at Bakin Dining Hall at Camp Wakonda on Sunday, November 21, followed by a memorial celebration at 3 p.m.
The Richard Beaty Memorial Fund has been established at the Veridian Bank.
