Richard "Dick? E. Copeland, 68, of 2250 31st St., Marion, died Wednesday, December 14, 2005 in his home following a short illness.
Services: 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2005 by Pastors Mike Gibbs and Darran Whiting at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, with military honors. Visitation: 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial: Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Mt. Vernon.
Dick is survived by his wife, Bunny Copeland of Marion; two children, Alisia (Kevin) Carradus and Addision (Holly) Copeland, both of Marion; three grandchildren, Brianna, McKenna & Brayton; three brothers, Jim (Nancy) Copeland of Prescott Valley, AZ, Darrel (Diane) Straw of Marion, and Ben (Kathy) Straw of Independence; sister-in-law, Barb Copeland of Prescott Valley, AZ; brother-in-law, Jim Cusick of Winthrop; and several nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Bob Copeland & Ruth Straw; brother, Dale Copeland; sister, Marlene Cusick; step-father, Ralph Straw; and three infant children.
Dick was born October 1, 1937 to Robert & Ruth (Ghere) Copeland in Independence. Dick served from 1955-1959 in the United States Navy onboard the submarine USS Tunney. He married Barbara "Bunny? Williams on January 31, 1964 in Iowa City. Dick worked for Rockwell Collins as an inspector for 33 years. He and his wife, Bunny owned and operated "The House of Nostalgia,? an antique shop in Marion for 14 years. He enjoyed woodworking and trout fishing with his wife. His passion was restoring, repairing and refinishing antique phonographs.
Dick loved his family and enjoyed family gatherings where he was especially gifted at teasing all the children of the family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. We all love him and will miss him very much. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #298 of Marion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Dick?s memory.
