Richard D. Comley, 83, a resident of Winslow House Care Center, died Sunday, June 27, 2004, at the care center, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Tom Schaeffer. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids with military rites.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Neve of Vinton and Shirley Hadenfeldt and husband Kyle of Whittier; a sister, Dorothy Busenbark of Marion; three grandchildren, Trai Neve of Waterloo, Charity Hansel and husband Jerry of Cedar Rapids and Jesica Fox and husband Todd of Central City; three great-grandchildren, Tristan, Dalton and Bryor; and his constant companion, Bear.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nita; five brothers, Jim, Wilfred, Glenn, Harold and Delbert; and two sisters, Helen Clark and Jeannette Stone.
Richard was born June 13, 1921, the son of Albert and Lulu Mae (Townsend) Comley in Cedar Rapids. On December 15, 1945, he married Nita Marie Lint. She died September 9, 1985. He served with the U.S. Army 95th Infantry during WWII in Germany. Richard was a truck driver for Teamsters Union Local No. 238 for 41 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
Richard loved his family and nature. He was a gardener and enjoyed fishing. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
