Richard E. Blackford, 77, of 904 25th St., Marion, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at St. Luke’s Hospital, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Mike Morgan. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Lorna; a daughter, Cindy (Craig) Baldwin of Marion and their children, Matt, Kaitlyn, and Nate; a son, Jeff (Robin) Blackford of Marion and their children, Keaton, Kade, and Seth; and a sister, Beulah (Norm) Crouse of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard was born November 21, 1930, the son of Forrest and Sarah (Jeffries) Blackford in Marion. He graduated from Marion High School. He married Lorna Grafft at the Little Brown Church in Nashua on January 17, 1953. Richard worked for Metal Crafters, Metal Fabricators, and later at Souvenir Incorporated, retiring in 1995.

Richard was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.

Richard was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a true handyman who was always willing to help family and friends. He enjoyed working in his machine shop, gardening and camping.

Richard will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital ICU for their compassionate care.
