Richard E. Bailey, 76, of Prairieburg, Iowa, passed away with loved ones Sunday, February 16, 2014, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, conducted by Father Wayne Droessler. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial: St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Prairieburg.
Survivors include his wife Mary Frances Bailey of Prairieburg; his children from his first marriage, Richard (Cindy) Bailey of Clarence, Iowa, Debbie of Minnesota, and Rick Bailey of Brooklyn, Iowa; children from his second marriage, Tim Bailey (Linda) of Prairieburg, and Vanessa Bailey (Rex) of Clarence; step-daughter, Rebecca (Larry) Schrader of Norway; fourteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one brother, Dean (Barb) Bailey of Marion; one step brother; one step sister; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death his parents; and three brother.
Richard was born on October 7, 1937, in Palo, Iowa, son of Roy and Bessie Bailey. He married Mary Frances Kula on December 17, 1975, in Prairieburg. Richard worked at Quaker Oats for 33 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.
