Retha Irene Froehle

Retha Irene (Brown) Froehle, 82, a resident of Crestview Acres Care Center in Marion, died there Tuesday, April 22, 2008, following a long illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, at Lovely Lane United Methodist Church, 2424 42nd St. NE, Cedar Rapids by Rev. Paul Wilcox. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside Committal: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Fayette Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Don of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Becky (Larry) Soukup of Agra, Oklahoma; a son, Mike (Rhonda) Froehle of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Alberta, Jeanine, and Kathleen; and three brothers, Burnett, James, and Berdeen.
Retha was born November 22, 1925, the daughter of Albert and Gladys (Greenough) Brown in Fayette County. She graduated from Fayette Public School in 1943 and went to Business School. On August 14, 1951, she married Donald Froehle in Wauseca, Minnesota. Retha worked as a cashier and bookkeeper at First National Bank in St. Paul. She volunteered for the Red Cross and TDY. Retha enjoyed sewing, gardening, bowling, music, ceramic work, and painting.
