Reginald "Reggie? D. Olson, 65, of Marion, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center, following a brief illness. Services: 9 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Washington Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in rural Decorah by Rev. Kim Smith.
Survivors include his brothers, Michael Olson and wife Bonnie of West Salem, Wisconsin and Rocky Olson and wife Janmarie of Yuma, Arizona; his sister, Cynthia Martin and husband Duane of Springville; his brother-in-law, Donald Denk of Waukon; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Gayla Denk.
Reggie was born January 16, 1938, the son of Conrad "Bud? and Gladys (Matheson) Olson in Madison, South Dakota. He graduated from Orland Consolidated High School in Orland, South Dakota in 1957 where he actively participated and excelled in multiple sports, from junior high on. Reggie worked as a maintenance worker for Henry and Bert Katz at the Marion Mobile Home Park for many years and the Marion Shopping Center. He worked in recent years delivering parts for CarQuest. Reggie served with the Army National Guard from 1957 to 1965. He was a member of the Washington Prairie Lutheran Church in Decorah.
Reggie had a wonderful personality and was full of life. Everyone who knew him will remember him as a storyteller. Reggie was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan and loved racing. He was greatly loved by many and will be dearly missed by his family, his many friends and his dog, Friskie.
