Regina Marie Hoppenworth, 44, of 1035 10th Street SE, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, February 12, 2006, in her home, following a brief illness. Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Cecil Ballard of Grace Baptist Church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her husband, Jay; her father, John E. Mahnke of Cedar Rapids; four children, Michael Hoppenworth, Wendy Hoppenworth, Mary Hoppenworth, all of Cedar Rapids and CMCR Allan Hoppenworth, United States Navy, of Port Hueneme, California; a sister, Rebecca Brawner Cedar Rapids; and three brothers, John A. Mahnke, James Mahnke and Joseph Mahnke, all of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Regina A. Mahnke; grandparents, Rose and Marvin Mefford; and an aunt, Maryellen Koening.
Marie was born August 10, 1961, the daughter of John and Regina (Robertson) Mahnke, in Iowa City, Iowa. On September 27, 1980, she was united in marriage to Jay Hoppenworth in Cedar Rapids. Marie enjoyed collecting roses, attending car shows with her husband, and flying home-built aircrafts. A loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, aunt and grandma, she loved spending time with her family. Marie will be never forgotten by all of those she touched.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Marie.
