Regina Donahue, 84, of Ryan, Iowa, passed away, Sunday, June 22, 2003 at her home, after a sudden illness.

A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Ryan, with the Rev. Ralph Simington officiating. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 24, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester, where the Rosary will be recited at 3:00 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour before the service on Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.

Regina was born September 7, 1918, in Ryan, Iowa, the daughter of Daniel & Margaret (Burke) Lyness. She attended grade school and high school at St. John?s in Ryan. She then attended State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, where she received her teaching license. Regina taught in rural Delaware County until her marriage. On July 14, 1942, she married Donald Donahue at St. Patrick?s Catholic Church in Ryan. Together they farmed in rural Ryan until Donald?s death in 1970. Regina then moved to town and worked at the Ryan elementary until her retirement in 1988.

Regina was actively involved in all of her children?s and grandchildren?s lives. She immensely enjoyed attending their activities and participating in family gatherings. Regina spent her free time growing flowers and visiting with her sisters. She was a lifetime member of the St. Patrick?s Catholic Parish in Ryan, and was a member of the Little Flower Study Club. Regina will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Regina is survived by her four children, Deanna (Steve) Shipley of Chula Vista, California, Donna (Tom) DeShaw of Ryan, Jan (Bill) Weydert of Peosta and Tom (Carol) Donahue of Livonia, Michigan; two sisters, Eileen Dolan of Ryan and Louise McEnany of Manchester; three sisters-in-law, Peg Lyness of Ryan, Mareita Dolphin of Manchester, and Imogene McAreavy of Maquoketa; nine grandchildren, Katie Shipley, Gina, Dawn & Kara DeShaw, Scott, Gery & Sarah Weydert and Diane & David Donahue; numerous nieces and nephews, along with great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Regina was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel & Margaret Lyness; her husband, Donald Donahue; six sisters and brothers, Delores Zieser, Stella McEnany, Mariam Vifian, Thomas Lyness, Bernard Lyness and Marcy Leonard.
