Raymond Ward Olmstead, 93, a resident of Winslow House Care Center in Marion, died there Friday, May 4, 2007. Services: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Jonna Jensen. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include two daughters, Joyce (Jim) Lucas and Char Pruismann, both of Central City; six grandchildren, Douglas (Marie) Lucas, Michael (Sharon) Lucas, Lisa (Anthony) Hurst, Lynnette (John) Kramer, Debbie Pruismann, and Dustin (McKenzie) Pruismann; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Lila Olmstead and Evelyn Olmstead; and a brother-in-law, Walter Wooldridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two brothers; three sisters; four brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and a great-grandson, Devan Pruismann.
Raymond was born March 16, 1914, the son of Raymond John and Boletta (Eige) Olmstead in Dysart. On November 6, 1938, he married Ione Wooldridge in Cedar Rapids. She died January 14, 2006. Raymond farmed in the Mt. Vernon area and drove school bus for many years. Upon retirement Raymond and Ione enjoyed eighteen winters together in Texas and were members of Good Sam Camping Club and Holiday Ramblers Camping Club. Raymond also enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, and especially his grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established in Raymond's memory.
