Raymond Meade, 80 of, Walker, died Monday, October 29, 2012, at Meth-Wick Community, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walker. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Walker. Scripture services will follow the visitation. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker.
Ray was born on October 26, 1932, in Rowley, the son of Gordon and Rose Meade. Ray graduated from Walker High School in 1950. He served in the United States Navy and then joined Sanitary Farm Dairy from where he retired.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Mary (Jeff) Webb of Hiawatha; son, Patrick (Dana) Meade of Woodside, California; his former daughter-in-law, Patti (Doug) Horton of Cedar Rapids; and five grandchildren, Whitney Webb (Sam) Soneja of Chicago, Lindsay Meade of Cedar Rapids, Katherine, Nicholas and Josephine Meade of Woodside.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Ragine, his wife of 54 years; his son, Daniel Meade; grandson, Andrew Webb; sister, Bonnie Carpenter; and brother, Jerry Meade.
Ray was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. His many friends will remember his ever-present smile and kind demeanor. His favorite past times were morning coffee at the Walker Fire Station and Sunday breakfast in Manchester. Both activities gave him opportunities to socialize with some of his favorite people.
