Raymond Lee Houdeshell, 75, of 1730 48th St., died Thursday, August 17, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2006 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Jonna Jensen. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of forty years, Shirlene; two sons, Brett Houdeshell and wife Maajal of Marion and Brad Houdeshell and wife Tracy of Marion; six siblings, Wanda Williams of Iowa, Virgil (Marcie) Houdeshell of Oregon, LaVonne Delgado of California, Bob (Charlotte) Houdeshell of Idaho, Carol (Dennis) Anderson of Arizona, and Skip Houdeshell of Iowa; four grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Blake, and Parker Houdeshell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mother, Thelma, who helped raise him.
Ray was born July 23, 1931, the son of John and Violet (Duncan) Houdeshell in Newell. On February 25, 1966, he married Shirlene Ann Yung in Dysart. Ray moved to Cedar Rapids in 1966 and worked in the shipping department at FMC Link-Belt. He founded Carpet King Carpet One in 1977 and retired in 1995. Ray was a member of American Legion Post No. 298 of Marion.
