Raymond W. Eggers, Sr., 95, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Monday, February 24, 2003, at St. Luke?s Hospital, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 27, 2003, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Del Bear. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Graveside services: 2 p.m. Thursday at Keystone Cemetery, Keystone, Iowa.

Survivors include his son, Raymond Eggers, Jr. and wife Deb of Marion; a grandson, Raymond William Eggers III of Marion; and four nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Grace; a brother, Ben Eggers; and a grandson, Joshua Scanlon.

Raymond was born April 4, 1907, the son of William and Emma (Junge) Eggers in rural Keystone. He graduated from Keystone High School. Raymond served with the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. He married Grace Dawson, she died in 1980. Together, they owned and operated Linn-House Gifts at Lindale Mall for many years. Raymond was a member of American Legion Hanford Post No. 5, who will perform military rites and the Cedar Rapids-Marion Optimist Club.
