Raymond A. Duball, 87, of 1830 Mallory Street SW, Cedar Rapids, went to live with the Lord, Saturday, August 23, 2008. Services: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 25, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dolly; four children, Deborah Ramsden, Larry Duball, both of Cedar Rapids, David (Pamela) Duball of Atkins and Tim Duball of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy McCormack of Harpers Ferry; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Onalie Galli of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Harold.
Raymond was born December 4, 1920, the son of Otto and Lottie (McMillian) Duball, in McGregor, Iowa, where he attended McGregor School. He served with the United States Army during World War II in the Anti Air-craft Division from 1942 to 1945. On August 2, 1950, Raymond was united in marriage to Thelma “Dolly” Gorkow at the United Methodist Church in Strawberry Point, Iowa.
Raymond worked as a car salesman at Rapids Chevrolet for over 20 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the 100 Car Club and Hall of Fame from Chevrolet, a lifetime member of the VFW Post 788 and a member of the Sharon United Methodist Church. Raymond also had been a faithful member and worker of the Nazarene Church for many years. Many people knew and trusted him for his honesty and integrity. Raymond loved fishing, going to his cabin, but most of all, his family and the Lord.
