Raymond G. DeWitt, 82, of Manchester died Wednesday, May 12, 2004 at his home following a sudden illness.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 14 at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester with Rev. Harlan Kaden presiding. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Private burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Des Moines at a later date.
Raymond Gilbert was born on July 16, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa. On July 16, 1971 Ray was united in marriage to Luella Bemrose in Manchester. He worked as a furniture carrier in Des Moines and as a custodian at West Des Moines Schools. In 1984, Ray retired and moved to Manchester. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends at Hardees and Wal-Mart.
Raymond is survived by his wife Luella DeWitt of Manchester; six children, Donna DeWitt and Raymond DeWitt, Jr. both of Sioux City; Georgia Griffin, Robert Foley, Patty Foley and Lonnie Foley, all of Des Moines; thirteen grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harry Foley, Jr.; a great-grandson, Jeffrey Cowling; and his brothers and sisters.
