Raymond E. Attwood, 75, of Center Point, Iowa, died Sunday, May 10, 2009, in his home. Services: 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2009, at the Center Point United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Mike Ellson and Ken Graham. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at the Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children, Teresa (Dan) Scheeler of Center Point, Michael (Sally) Attwood of Amana, Renee (Mark) Zahn of Seymour, Wisconsin and Karla (Paul) Stodola of Palo; and grandchildren, Aaron Tritle, Brian Tritle, Kyle Scheeler, Keri Knutsen, Brett Attwood, Andy Attwood, Jayson Attwood, Brandon Yansky, Rusty Yansky, Nicolas Zahn, Emily Zahn, Paige Stodola, Jake Stodola and Taylor Stodola; great grandchildren, Ashton Attwood, Mayson and Annabelle Attwood, Ava and Cayla Attwood, Keegan Scheeler, Breckin Knutsen and Brennan Henderson and Avery Yansky.
Also surviving are siblings, Dale Attwood of Cedar Rapids, Beverly McVay of Urbana and Emma Adams of Nauvoo, Illinois; mother-in-law, Myrla Edaburn of Center Point; two sisters-in-law, Marge Henderson of Cedar Rapids and Rita Mullinex of Cedar Rapids; and a brother-in-law, Everett Edaburn of Rewey, Wisconsin.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leonard Henderson and Thomas Attwood.
Born September 25, 1933, in Troy Mills, Iowa, Raymond was the son of George and Jennie (Whitson) Attwood. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. On September 4, 1954, he was united in marriage to Ruth Edaburn in the Center Point United Methodist Church. Raymond was a farmer and worked for Square D for over 40 years.
Raymond was a member of the Center Point United Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #264.
Raymond enjoyed his Model T, fishing, hunting and farming but most of all he loved spending time with his family. His grandchildren meant the most to him.
