Ray Alfred Wilcox, 81, of Kenton, Michigan, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, October 17, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center, following a long illness. There will be no services. Burial will be in Northern Michigan at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta of Kenton, Michigan; three children, Gini (Kirk) Hayes, Marck (Mel) Wilcox, and Duane (Ann) Wilcox; five grandchildren, Joshua, Danielle, and Peter Wilcox, Sarah Shaffer, and Amanda Howe; and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle and Anastasia.
Ray was born February 5, 1927, the son of Lester and Matilda (Luusua) Wilcox in Detroit, Michigan. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. On September 20, 1951, he married Loretta Herbert in Cedar Rapids. Ray worked at Johnson Gas until his retirement.
Ray enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and shooting. He was a loving and kind husband.
