Ray C. Mills, 89, of Center Point, passed away Friday, October 17, 2003in his home, where he was cared for by his loving family and devoted care givers. Services: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at United Church of Christ in Central City by the Rev. Jonna Jensen. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Burial: Mills Cemetery in rural Central City.
Survivors include his children, Marc (Joanie) Mills of Coggon, Dennis (Marlene) Mills of Walker, Myrna (Jim) Noska of Central City and Virginia (Chester) Fuessley of Walker; and a sister, Wilma (Theron) Hall of Cedar Rapids.
Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, Tim Noska, Rod Noska, Kim Cooper, Chris Noska, Shane Fuessley, Holly Krough, Blair Fuessley, Angela Taylor, Melanie Mills, Martin Mills, Michael Mills, Devin Mills, Charles Mills and Christen Mills; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great -great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Charles, five brothers and two sisters.
He was born the son of Charles and Leila Henderson Mills on January 11, 1914, in Central City. In 1932 he was united in marriage to Avada Harvey. She died July 17, 1964. Ray was a farmer in the Central City and Troy Mills areas and sold Lynks and Stine Seed. He was a member United Church of Christ in Central City, Farm Bureau and a board member of Farm Service.
Ray is also survived by Dorothy Simmons, who he married in 1971; two stepdaughters; and several step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
