Ray F. Leidigh, 83, a resident of Hiawatha Care Center, died Sunday, February 15, 2004, at the care center, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2004 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids by Rev. Mark Osterhaus. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. Military Rites will be performed.

Survivors include his children, Terrance Leidigh of Florida, James Leidigh (Paula) of Center Point, Carolyn Rene? Anderson of Cedar Rapids and Richard (Jaci) Leidigh of Robins; seven grandchildren, Beau (Tara) Leidigh, Chad Leidigh, Gary Leidigh, Jessie Leidigh, Jamie Leidigh, Paul Leidigh and Andy Anderson; two great-grandchildren, Reid Leidigh and Sonya Leidigh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy; a son, Gary Leidigh; a granddaughter, Brooke Nicole Leidigh; and two brothers, Virgil and Lodell Leidigh.

Ray was born July 10, 1920, the son of Wilson and Libbie (Milburn) Leidigh in Robins. He graduated from Marion High School. On January 6, 1943, he married Dorothy (Hutchcroft) Leidigh in Kahoka, Missouri. She died August 31, 1995. Ray served with the U.S. Army in Germany and France during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He owned and operated several Leidigh Standard service stations in the Cedar Rapids area for 37 years. Ray enjoyed traveling to Florida and Canada with his family and playing cards.

Ray had a great sense of humor and everyone who knew him was a victim of it. He was very outgoing and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
