Ray George Barnard, 91, of 275 Lortz Drive, formerly of Callaway, Nebraska, died Saturday, August 16, 2003, at his home, following a brief illness. Graveside Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway, Nebraska. There will be no visitation. Local Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.

Survivors include his wife, Neva; a son, Neville Barnard and wife Helen of Vinton; his grandchildren, Ray Herbert Barnard and friend Mary of Vinton; Charlene Barnard-Young and husband Larry of Toddville and Dee Ommen and husband Scott of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Mabel Williams of Canon City, Colorado; and two great-grandchildren, Catherine and Megan Young of Toddville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, George Washington and Lydia Ann Barnard; and two sons, Allen Barnard and David Barnard who died in infancy.

Ray was born September 10, 1911, the son of Walter and Sisy (Hansen) Barnard in Callaway, Nebraska. On February 14, 1938, he married Mary Neva Vollenweider in Oconto, Nebraska. Ray was a lab tech for Rockwell and Norand. Ray loved electronics and was an amateur radio operator for nearly all of his life. W0EAZ is now silent.
