A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion, officiated by Pastor Andy Noble. A Private Family Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown, Iowa.
Randy was born on July 21, 1960, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the loved son of Jerome and Martha (Dvorak) Schlueter. He graduated from LaSalle High School in 1978 and received an associate degree from Kirkwood Community College in 1980. His career began with Century Engineering and, in 1985, began an almost 40-year tenure with Collins Aerospace in mechanical design. He enjoyed his work and loved the people he worked with over the years. On October 29, 1988, Randy was united in marriage to Wendy Anne Stenzel at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion. They shared over 35 years of marriage and were blessed with three children, Brandon Michael, Tyler Christian, and Anna Katharine Elisa. Randy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Randy enjoyed bowling (with numerous 300 games), golfing (especially with Brandon and Tyler), and keeping active at St. Paul’s as a teacher, usher, trustee, and elder. He had a strong faith that encouraged us to love God with our whole heart. While he had many “titles”, his favorite was “Bobo” to Henry John, Benjamin Allan, Frederick James, and the newest granddaughter, born May 13, 2024, Lillian Christine.
Randy is survived by his wife, Wendy; children, Brandon (Lauren) Schlueter, Tyler (Emily) Schlueter, and Anna (Doug) Davis, all of Marion; grandchildren, Henry, Benny, Freddy, Lilly, and another granddaughter on the way in September; brothers, Jeffery (Michelle) Schlueter and Michael (Amy) Schlueter; sister, Lynda (Wayne) Cook; several nephews; and brother-in-law, Michael (Jan) Stenzel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Martha, and loving in-laws, Donald and Gloria Stenzel.
We would like to thank the amazing medical team at Hall Perine Cancer Center, including Dr. Ann Stroh, Traci Ridgeway, ARNP, and Dr. Wook Lee. So many have helped us through this battle and we feel truly blessed by each one of the many special people that crossed our path. Thankful appreciation for the loving care that we all received at the Oldorf Hospice House, with a special mention of Linda, Julie, and Casey. Your love and care made the difficult days bearable.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Marion or the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
