Randy Richard “Rufus” Reed, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, formerly of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City, Iowa, at a later date. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.
Randy was born on December 31, 1957, in Huron, South Dakota, the son of John Lee and Rose Ann (Madsen) Reed-Price. He was a 1977 graduate of Marion High School and went on to become an over the road truck driver. He enjoyed playing pool, playing games on his phone, and admiring tattoo designs. Randy made many friendships across the country as an online pen pal. He was known for his flirtatious humor and stubbornness. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Randy is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Brandy (Mike) Morton; grandchildren, Marquise (Candee) Graham, Brennon (Amanda) Clark, Mercedes Davidson, Keegan Ankney, Xavier Witter, Kimberly Halverson, and Kody Halverson; two great-grandchildren, Jason Graham and Oliver Halverson; and siblings, Terry (Katy) Reed, Connie Barns, and Steven Lee Reed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Viola Madsen; and aunt, Janice Madsen.
