Randall S. Merck, 50, of Marion, died suddenly, Sunday, January 15, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion, by Rev. Mike McGinty. The family will greet friends 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the funeral home in Marion. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his son, Brett (Brynn) Merck and their son, Noland of Marion; daughter, Erica Merck of Cedar Rapids; Fiancée, Mary Vanderlinden of Cedar Rapids; first wife, Angie Simoens of Cedar Rapids; and many other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Randy was born August 1, 1961 in Iowa, and was adopted by Ralph and Genevieve (Ransier) Merck. He married Angie Simoens, and they later divorced. He was currently engaged to Mary Vanderlinden. Randy was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in Desert Storm.
Randy’s life will continue through his gift to the Iowa Donor Network.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Randy’s name.
