Ralph M. Strickler, 79, of 4690 Lincoln Heights Dr. SE, Cedar Rapids, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, August 13, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Private Family Graveside Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday August 15, 2006, at Campbell Cemetery, by Rev. Lyle Kuehl. Arrangements with Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Minni; his children, Virginia (Gary) Kimball of St. Louis, Missouri, Robert Strickler of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Christine (Todd) Flatness of Amboy, Minnesota; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Wilma Sweeny; a brother, Earl (Nancy) Strickler; and a stepbrother, Joe (Peggy) Florey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy; one sister; and three brothers.

Ralph was born August 20, 1926, the son of Wesley and Lillie (Milroy) Strickler, in East Zorra Township, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada. He served with the United States Army during World War II. On January 2, 1948, Ralph was united in marriage to Philomena Schilling. He worked for Iowa Manufacturing, Buresh Rental and Kenwood Transfer. Ralph was a member of the Westminister Presbyterian Church and the VFW.
