Ralph D. Knipper, 85, a longtime resident of Delhi, died, Friday, January 27, 2012 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 30, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church in Delhi conducted by Rev. John Kremer. Visitation: 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, January 29, 2012 at Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville, with a Parish Scripture Service at 2:00 pm. Additional visitation 1 hour prior to service, Monday at the Church. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Delhi.
Ralph was born March 9, 1926 in Petersburg, the son of August and Rose (Thole) Knipper. He married Vanita Lammers on April 22, 1947 in Petersburg. They were lifetime farmers, starting in Petersburg for 3 years, and moving to Delhi in 1952. They moved in town in 1984, but kept active with farming. Ralph was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Vanita; children: Donald (Joann) Knipper, Joyce (Ken) Edmonds, Colleen (Jim) Rausch, Randall (Michelle) Knipper, Joan (Mike) Wessels, and Bruce (Karen) Knipper; 19 grandchildren: Christopher (Teresa) Knipper, Kayleen (Anrew) Hardy, Mark (Carmen) Knipper, Terry Knipper, Julie (Troy) Brown, Brian (Brenda) Edmonds, Scott (Stephanie) Edmonds, Kendra (Nick) Downs, Amy (Tim) Lueck, Kevin Rausch, Kyle Knipper, Kraig Knipper, Rachel Knipper, Ryan (Liz Metz) Wessels, Angie Wessels, Nick Wessels, Katie Wessels, Eric Knipper, and Travis Knipper; 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Walter (Charolette) Knipper and Rick (Jane) Knipper; a sister, Kathleen (Laverne) Osterhaus, and a sister-in-law, Julia Knipper.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Chad Knipper; a great-grand daughter, Tayla Hardy; and three brothers, Laverne, Joseph and Gilbert Knipper.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ralph's memory.
