Ralph Charles Gonsales, 95, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his children, Mikky Gonsales of Cedar Rapids, Denise (David) Leubka of Williamsburg, Iowa, and Michele (Mark Henderson) Camp of Swisher, Iowa; granddaughter, Kristen (Josh) Lieb of Williamsburg; and great-grandchildren, Charlie and Katie Lieb.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; brother, Gene Gonsales; and sister, Leola Gonsales.
Ralph was born on October 31, 1921, in Marion, Iowa, the son of Charles and Alta (Hollingsworth) Gonsales. He graduated from Marion High School. Ralph served in the U.S. Navy during WWII from 1941 to 1945.
He worked as a service advisor for Allen Motor Company from which he retired. Ralph was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing.
