Ralph M. Beltz, 69, of 4101 16th Avenue SW, Cedar Rapids, went on an extended fishing trip Friday, December 28, 2007. He departed at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, after fighting with kidney dialysis for more than five years. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2007, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Robert Kunz of Marion Christian Church. The family will greet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2007, at the funeral home. Burial: Ridgewood Cemetery, North Liberty, at a later date.
Survivors include his children, Marvin (Judy) Beltz of Florissant, Missouri, David (Roberta) Beltz, Tammy (Larry) Beltz, Roy (Rose) Beltz, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Patty Hills of Central City, Iowa; six sisters, Violet Wisdom, Annie (Boyd) Riley, Joanie Gage, Elsie Deason, Eddie Ford, all of Cedar Rapids, and Mary (Gary) Oaks of Arkansas; thirteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
Ralph is now off fishing with his soul mate, Jan; his parents; four brothers, Fred, Sonny, Louis and Roy; and a sister, Laura.
Ralph was born November 4, 1938, the son of Glenn and Ellen (Schminkey) Beltz, in Iowa City, Iowa. He served in the United States Marine Corps. Ralph was in the roofing business all of his adult life.
He was everyone’s friend who always had a joke and a smile. Ralph loved to fish and if he wasn’t fishing, he was talking about fishing. He loved to talk about food and enjoyed watching boxing, the Food Network, and the Animal Planet.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of Ralph.
