Rachael E. Brown, 89, a longtime resident of Marion, died Monday, November 3, 2003, at the Anamosa Care Center after a long illness. Private services will be conducted by the Rev. Carla Burge. Arrangements are by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include her sons, Dick (Carol) Rowley of Anamosa and Keith (Barb) Rowley of Fayette; her daughter, Carolyn Fortney of Anamosa; stepdaughters, Barbara Johnson, Beverly Loveless, Sandra Hamilton, Phyllis King and Carol Vrchoticky; a sister, Jeanette Schmitz of Vinton; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harry Rowley, who died December 5, 1960; and her second husband, Herb Brown, who died December 15, 1993.
Rachael was born the daughter of Albert and Mae Schell Brinkman on April 29 1914, in Waverly, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Harry Rowley on April 29, 1936, in Horton, Iowa. On November 25, 1971, she married Herbert M. Brown in Marion. Rachael was a member of Marion Christian Church and Theristriai Club of Marion.
Rachael?s hobbies were sewing, quilting, fishing, reading, traveling and walking. She was a fine seamstress and a great Mom!
