Phyllis Mae Strom, 77, of Manchester, Iowa died Thursday, May 16, 2008 at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, Iowa following a brief illness.
Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008, St. John’s Catholic Church in Delhi, Iowa by Rev. John K. Kremer. Family will greet friends from 4-8:00 p.m., Monday, May 19th at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester where there will be a 7:00 p.m. Scripture service. Inurnmentl will be at West Lawn Cemetery at Lehigh, Iowa
Phyllis was born on December 16, 1930 at Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Melbourne and Ida Mary (Cowell) Crouse. She attended Fort Dodge High School graduating in 1948 and attended Iowa State University. On June 9, 1949, Phyllis was united in marriage to Dr. Duane I. Strom, D.V.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fort Dodge. The couple resided in New Vienna, IA where Phyllis helped her husband with his business, was a homemaker, and was a successful business woman as co-owner of the Casual Corner Store in Dyersville. In 1981, they moved to Little Rock, Ark; Ames, IA in 1997 and to Manchester in 2004.

Phyllis was a good business partner, enjoyed entertaining at dinner parties, was an avid sports fan ?" especially Iowa State, she loved baking and cooking and enjoyed watching TV.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Dr. Duane I. Strom, D.V.M. of Manchester; seven children, Debbie Frasher (Sol Pobre) of Las Vegas, NV; Steve (Vivian) Strom of Pittsburg, PA; Corine (Mark) Watzka of Sparta, WI; Susie (Steve) Meyer of Lake Delhi, IA, Vicki (Dave) Fink of Lake Delhi, IA; Jackie Stuart (Becky Craft) Wichita, KS; and Eric (Ida) Strom, Little Rock, AR.; one sister, Karen (Don) Jordison of Johnston, IA; two brothers, Robert (Donna) Crouse of Omaha, NE and Gary (Linda) Crouse of Mt Vernon, IL; nineteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Melbourne and Ida Crouse and one son, Michael Strom in January 2001.
