Phyllis Joan Smith, 85, of Central City, Iowa, passed away with her family by her side on January 2, 2019. A private funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Central City, officiated by Pastor Gregory Williamson of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial: St. John's Cemetery in Rock Springs, Wisconsin.
Phyllis was born October 9, 1933, in Baraboo, Wisconsin. She was married to Phillip R. Smith for 61 years. She enjoyed having coffee with her friends, spending time with her family, writing letters and attending church on Sunday. She was loved by not only her family, but so many great friends. Her kindness and loving heart will stay with us always.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Ann Dickinson; grandchildren, Erica Peper, Travis Hoffpauir, Michael Hoffpauir and April Hoffpauir; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Clayton, Mia, Neveah and Jaidie; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Phil; and daughter, JoAnn.
The family would like to thank the palliative care doctors and nurses of The University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics, and an extra special thank you to Phyllis's nephew, Bob Smith for his attentive care.
