Phyllis Jean (Jons) Sandberg, 77, of Alburnett, formerly of Rowley, died Friday, April 21, 2017, at Emery Place in Robins. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point. Funeral Services: 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the funeral home. Burial: Alice Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Mark (Hailee) Sandberg; grandsons, Bryce and Justin Sandberg; a sister, Patty (Al) Bohrer-Gothe; a brother, Ron (Pat) Jons; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bruce; and brother-in-law, Dean Bohrer.
Phyllis was born April 21, 1940, the daughter of Arlie and Dorothy (Morris) Jons in Cedar Rapids. In 1958, she participated in the Girl State Basketball Tournament and graduated from Alburnett High School. On December 8, 1961, she married Bruce Sandberg at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Center Point. Phyllis was a homemaker and farmed with her husband in the Rowley area for 40 years, then moved to Alburnett in 2001.
Phyllis enjoyed playing cards and spending time with friends and family.
