Phyllis A. Bonesteel, 76, of 4101 16th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Friday, October 10, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long term illness.
Services: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Bill Harnish. Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Ronald Wilson, Terry Wilson, Steven Wilson and Tina Wilson all of Cedar Rapids; two step-children, Rose (Craig) Hesson and Gary Bonesteel both of Shellsburg; ten grandchildren; and great grandchild.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LeVern; four sisters; and three brothers.
Phyllis was born May 31, 1932, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Mattie (White) Wubbens. On July 8, 1975, she was united in marriage to LeVern Bonsteel in Iowa City. Phyllis was employed as a certified nurse’s assistant at St. Luke’s Hospital and various positions at May City Bowling Center. She also worked and volunteered at American Legion Hanford Post 5.
Phyllis was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was an officer of her bowling league. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping and traveling.
Memorials may be made in Phyllis’ memory to the American Cancer Society, 4080 1st Avenue N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402.
Following the service lunch will be served at American Legion Hanford Post 5, 4719 J Street, S.W., Cedar Rapids.
