Philomena “Minni” Strickler, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Services: 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids by Rev. Dr. Katie Hopper. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Campbell Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three children, Virginia (Gary) Kimball of O’Fallon, Missouri, Robert (fiancé Debbie Snyder) Strickler of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Christine (Todd) Flatness of Amboy, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Tammy Kimball, Jeffrey (Jeannie) Kimball, Amy Barnett, and Jennifer (Billy) Galloway; eight great-grandchildren, Misty Klock, Tyson and Basil Kimball, Dakota, Emily, and Megan Barnett, Leslie and Austin Galloway; and a sister, Theresa Benefield of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph; and a daughter, Cindy.
Minni was born December 5, 1927, the daughter of Adolf and Franziska (Schilling) Penzenstadler in Munich, Germany. On January 2, 1948, she married Ralph M. Strickler. He died August 13, 2006.
Minni was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she attended the Martha and Shawl Groups. She also was a member of Cedar Rapids Women’s Club where she was the treasurer for five years.
Minni belonged to 3 Bridge Clubs. She taught sewing and enjoyed bowling. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Drum & Bugle Corps Chaperone, and 4-H volunteer. Minni also helped to build a church in Cozumel, Mexico.
