Philip LeRoy Klinge was born November 8, 1961, to Norman and Nila Anderson Klinge. He attended school in Cedar Rapids and graduated from Kennedy High School in 1980. He later received an Associate Degree from Kirkwood Community College. Because of Phil’s love for farming (and cows), he worked at several area farms. After working with different companies, he retired early from Cargill because of ill health. Phil married Lori Brady in 1981. They were later divorced. He married Angela Cornthwaite in 1993. They had three sons. They later divorced.
Phil is survived by his children, Spencer (Jordan), Kohlman and Patrick Klinge; two grand-daughters, Avery and Emery Klinge; his fiancée, Brenda Bergmann; his mother, Nila Klinge; brother, Paul Klinge; sister, Pamela Klinge; aunt, Lorraine Peterson; and many cousins and friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his father, Norman Klinge and grandparents, Irvin and Ruth Anderson and Kolman and Emma Klinge.
Phil had a wonderful attitude throughout his many illnesses. He would often say, “Let’s get it done” or “Let’s do it.” We will miss him.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
