Philip A. Haars

Philip A. Haars, 88, of rural Center Point, died Sunday, February 17, 2008, at Northbrook Manor Care Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Graveside Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Alice Cemetery, rural Center Point, by Chaplain Jeremy Hudson. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Carl, Fred, Albert, William, Ernest, Theodore, Ervin, Herman; and three sisters, Gertrude, Elsie and Leona.
Philip was born April 5, 1919, the youngest son of Frederick and Emilie (Laeder) Haars, on the family farm near Center Point, Iowa. He farmed and resided on the family farm until his illness in 2004. Philip helped raise a nephew, Philip Charles Haars, who died in 2000.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice in memory of Philip.
