Phil Phillips, 76, of Central City, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002, at Willow Gardens Care Center, Marion, after a long illness. A memorial service in his memory will be held at 1 p.m.Saturday, October 12, 2002, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Wayne Droessler. The family will greet friends from noon to service time Saturday.

Phil was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He worked most of his life in the hotel-motel business. Phil traveled the country extensively during the course of his life and career.

Phil was preceded in death by his father, Speaker Phillips; his mother, Kate Ellis Phillips; and a son, Thomas Warren Phillips.

Survivors include his wife, LouAnn Phillips of Central City; and two sons, Ryan and Bradley Phillips;

Other survivors include a son, Charles Edward Phillips Jr. of Fremont, Nebraska; three daughters, Elizabeth Phillips, Jeannie (Mrs. Eddie Newill), and Pamela (Mrs. Steven Dimiceli, all of Fremont, Nebraska; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Frank, Eugene and Ronnie Phillips, all of Houston, Texas, and Sam Bowerman of West Virginia; four sisters, Geraldine McCuistion of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mary Sharp of Alabama, and Linda Delffosse and Beverly Brown, both of Maryland; and other extended family members.

A memorial fund has been established for his two youngest sons.
