Peter Neman Meyer, 74 of Marion, IA, passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Visitation: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the funeral home in Marion. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.
Peter was born August 2, 1937, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Neman "Bud" and Vera Meyer. He married Doris Pringle of Springville, Iowa. He worked for Cramer Bros. Construction and later operated White Birch Resort in Blackduck, Minnesota with his wife Doris.
Peter loved playing cards, hunting, fishing, and helping others.
Peter is survived by his children, Jeff (Mary) Meyer, Macon, Illinois, Dan (Sharon) Meyer, Wilmette, Illinois, and Julie (Don) Gates, Central City, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; a brother, Orville Meyer, Anamosa, and two sisters, Arva Brockhohn, Springville, and Ruth Ann Collins, Viola.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother, Neman Meyer.
